Family is a concerted blend of two distinct families uniting to form a unified bond.... We in this society have placed all emphasis on the immediate members however, the extended portions of our families has always been our historical reference points and our gathering of information grounded in wisdom.

 In the legislature and the legal arenas family has been expanded to include a same sex significant other. This was done to assist homosexual life partners enjoy benefits such as shared health care. Additionally, it allowed same sex partners to make high level decisions in case of a life or death situation. This has lead to a movement that is attempting to re-write the rules that govern marriage and allow same sex marriages.

Many who practice momotheistic religions, such as myself, derive our definition of a family based on the many examples found in the Torah, Tenach, Holy Bible, and even Koran. From this, a different definition that learns more toward the union of two families by a man and a woman exsist. When the man and woman unite they also have the abilty to propagate a new generation who will act as stewards of this planet. In this sense, the family is a unit that has a living past and a living future which will be celelbrated.

Family is the sum total of not only the mother and father but the entire extended family on both sides of a child’s ancestral tree.
